Recently, many motorcycle friends have asked me how often the commonly worn parts of motorcycles need to be replaced? Should they be replaced only when they break down? I personally recommend that you check them regularly and maintain or replace them after a certain number of kilometers to avoid failures during riding and leaving them unused. Today, I will give you a list of commonly worn parts of motorcycles and their general replacement dates, so that you can use them as a reference for all motorcycle friends.
1. Brake pads: Generally, drum brake pads should be replaced every 10,000-15,000 kilometers. Front disc brake pads should be replaced every 15,000 kilometers, and rear brake pads should be replaced every 30,000 kilometers. The thickness of the brake pads should be checked every 5,000 kilometers. When the thickness is only about 1/3 of the original thickness, it is necessary to prepare for replacement.
2. Tires: Normally, they should be replaced every 3 years or 60,000 kilometers. However, if you often drive on bad roads, or have bad driving habits such as sudden braking and sharp turns, the replacement cycle will be shortened.
3. Chain: Generally, it is replaced every 2 years or 20,000-30,000 kilometers. If the chain is properly maintained, it can be extended to 40,000-50,000 kilometers.
4. Spark plugs: Nickel-copper spark plugs should be replaced every 10,000-20,000 kilometers, and platinum/iridium spark plugs should be replaced every 30,000-50,000 kilometers.
5. Air filter: Generally, it should be replaced every year or 10,000 kilometers. In areas with severe haze, it is best to replace it every six months or 7,000 kilometers.
6. Brake fluid: Generally replaced every 2 years or 50,000 kilometers.
7. Clutch plate: Generally replaced every 2 years or about 40,000 kilometers.
8. Battery: Generally replaced every 30,000 kilometers or 2 to 3 years.
