In recent years, the cruising market has been booming, and motorcycle enthusiasts have found it difficult to choose from many models, such as sports cruising and retro cruising. To talk about pure American cruising, it has to be Lifan’s V series cruise, from the famous V16 to Today’s advanced version – Lifan V400, Lifan has been online for mastering the American cruising style. The V400 Dark Night Edition costs 21,999 yuan, and the Shine Edition costs 22,999 yuan. They are available in two colors: pearl white and pearl black. There is no difference in configuration between the two versions. The difference of 1,000 yuan is that the shine version uses a large number of chrome-plated parts (this evaluation is called the shine version). The exhaust pipe, front shock absorber, air filter cover, and engine side cover of the Dark Night Edition are all spray-painted, as shown in the official standard photo below.
Personally, I think the most pleasing thing about this V400 is its pure American cruising style. It inherits the classic elements from the V16 and is unique among the current domestic cruise cars. The classic round headlight design maintains the retro elements while having full LED front and rear. The light source perfectly combines retro and technology. The layout of the V2 engine makes the body shape full and brings a vision that far exceeds the 400 displacement. Although it is a water-cooled V2 engine, for the sake of stylized setting, the engine cylinder head is still equipped with cooling fins. It creates an atmosphere of a large-displacement air-cooled engine. At the same time, the V400 is covered with large areas of chrome-plated parts in the transmission case and engine side cover, which also significantly improves the sophistication of the entire vehicle. Many details constitute the pure American cruising style of the V400, making it very prominent among cruisers of the same class.
In the detail processing part, you can see Lifan’s polishing of the V400. The entire vehicle’s paint is full and shiny, with a rich sense of refinement. The engine’s appearance has been specially treated, and chrome-plated screws with good consistency are used, which adds a lot to the appearance and texture. Together with the single-sided double outlet The chrome-plated exhaust pipe is quite well done. The only thing lacking is the wiring harness next to the engine. It can be retracted to hide the line, and the visual effect will be improved to a higher level.
In the power part, V400 is equipped with a V-type twin-cylinder water-cooled eight-valve engine with a maximum power of 29Kw/8500rpm and a maximum torque of 37N·m/6000rpm. The maximum torque explodes at 6000 rpm. It has classic V2 output characteristics. For a car that focuses on low torque From the perspective of a cruiser, it is very suitable. The gearbox uses an international 6-speed. Unfortunately, it does not use a foot pedal, but a conventional foot lever. There will be a certain lack of comfort during long-distance cruising. I hope there will be modified parts in the future. The comfort of V400 will be even better.
The transmission part is equipped with a belt as standard, a classic configuration for cruising, quiet riding, maintenance-free, and smoother operation.
The fuel tank adopts a streamlined design and integrates with the lines of the vehicle. It has a capacity of 16L. According to the estimated fuel consumption of 400 displacement, it can guarantee a range of more than 300km, and it can handle travel without any problem.
In addition, the right side of the fuel tank is equipped with USB and TYPE-C fast charging interfaces, which are convenient for charging. The frame welding on the front part of the car is quite regular.
The full LED light source and classic round headlights match the cruising style of the vehicle. The front turn signals are set under the handlebars on both sides to provide a better warning effect.
The handle adopts an integrated high-position variable-diameter handle, and the bright chrome-plated parts complement the entire vehicle, highlighting the strong retro elements. The handlebar buttons use a universal button assembly, which is slightly different from the cruising style of the vehicle. It can be replaced with retro buttons with a stronger style, and the look and feel will be better.
The round color LCD instrument has a complete display of speed, fuel volume, water temperature, and mileage. It focuses on simplicity. During daytime riding, the information is clearly displayed and does not reflect light.
The V400 uses a front upright shock absorber, and the rear shock absorber is a double spring shock absorber. It is worth mentioning that the front shock absorber is equipped with a straight chrome sleeve, which not only ensures a sense of refinement, but also better protects the shock absorber. Affected by dust and rain in daily use, this will significantly extend the service life of the front shock absorbers.
In terms of braking configuration, it is equipped with a front 320mm one-way three-piston caliper, a rear 260mm single-piston caliper, multi-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, and dual-channel ABS+TC. It is a mainstream configuration specification, but the caliper does not have a LOGO, and the TC off button is on Right-hand handle, press to close.
The tires are CST brand tires with 120/80-18 in the front and 180/70-15 in the rear. The tire width of 120 in the front wheel has obvious advantages for the directionality and steering flexibility of the front wheel, while the tire width of 180 in the rear wheel ensures the maximum stability. The seat cushion adopts a height difference between the front and rear, which will have the effect of a lumbar support. The driver’s lumbar support is good when riding. At the same time, the driver’s large-area seat cushion has good comfort. The combination of the two can greatly reduce fatigue during travel. While the V400 adheres to the pure American cruising style, it also has all the mainstream configurations that should be expected. The price announced by the Motor Expo starts at 21,999 yuan, which is more than 1,000 yuan lower than the popular 300-displacement cruise car. The price/performance ratio is in place.
